My career dedicated to supporting children with behavioral challenges has spanned over 15 years, beginning as a child development specialist and later advancing to a senior position within a large nonprofit organization based in Hartford, CT. For a decade, I engaged deeply with children aged 5 to 16 in Hartford and Middletown, teaching them crucial social and emotional coping skills. These children, diagnosed with a range of conditions including ADD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, anxiety, conduct disorder, and autism, benefitted greatly from the after-school extended day treatment programs I led. Throughout this period, I furthered my education, earning an undergraduate degree in human services from Springfield College in 2013, followed by a Master’s degree in social work in 2016.
Transitioning my career further, I served as a behavior technician in a specialized school setting for the New Britain school district, working with students aged 5 to 18 who could no longer remain in general education classrooms due to their behavioral needs. This role was a precursor to my last eight years spent as a school social worker, where I utilized my accumulated skills and experiences. In this capacity, I have been pivotal in helping students overcome behavioral obstacles to become more receptive to learning opportunities within their classrooms. My work is driven by a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of focused behavioral support, tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and their environment, primarily serving families within Connecticut’s 860 area code.
